Q4U Ribs are fall off the bone good

We just went to Q4U BBQ today located at 3951 W 5400 S Kearns in Utah. When you first walk in you can smell the smoke of the bar-b-Que which makes you salivate and you will notice they have trophies all over the back wall along with a long wall of pictures and awards they have won.

Janet was our waitress and she was very relaxed and polite. She made the atmosphere extremely friendly and fun. This was our first experience at Q4U so we didn't really know what to expect but if you are in Kearns (next to Taylorsville) this is a must try. We ordered the Darn Snacky Pork Spare Rib Sandwich, and Famous Half Slab (6 ribs) with a side of onion hushpuppies.

Our side dishes were yams, potato salad and Q's cole slaw. For me the Q's cole slaw was the best. The yams reminded me of the kind I would eat at Thanksgiving Dinner without the marshmallows. They were marinated in brown sugar and perfectly sweetened.

The ribs were hands down both of our favorites. They literally fell off the bone (the bone was completely meat free). The ribs were seasoned perfectly and the hot & regular sauces accompanied the ribs with great flavor.

The pork was juicy, soft and delicious but I kept coming back to the ribs which are my favorite kind of meat anyway. The next time we go back I am getting the 12 ribs so I can have left overs.

picture of 6 ribs although you can't see the meat very well and I was anxious to eat so I didn't take the time to move the plate around. The bones were bare with no meat on them (they are purely for decoration) so we picked up most of the meat with our hands when the fork wasn't cutting it.

My pulled pork sandwich. I ate the meat right out of the bun and each bite was just intense of smoke flavor. The meat was perfectly cooked and juicy (I hate dry pulled pork). The pulled pork great but I still found myself eating the Ribs because they were so much better.

Ruths Chris Steakhouse in Hotel Park City

We had a business guest flying in from Texas and we needed a nice relaxing place to take him for dinner. We listen to the Sean Hannity radio broadcast and figured we could all find something on the menu that we would enjoy.

We arrived at 6:45 and the hostess promptly seated us. We hadn't heard from your Texan client and he was supposed to land in SLC at 4:30 with plans to meet up in Park City for Dinner. He wasn't answering his phone so we thought maybe he got lost or had other issues and proceeded with ordering. At 7:00 we received a call from our client stating the plane was late and he just got his car. We had already placed our order and eaten our appetizers (salad and soup) so we asked our waitress if we could put our order on hold until our guest arrived. He was especially nice about this and said that would be fine.

7:15 our client shows up (that is fast by anyones driving standards from SLC to Park City). He floored it up the mountain and said on the plane he was getting himself excited about eating a good steak tonight. He also told us he knows his steaks and would let us know how this place sized up. He orderd a prime cut with blue cheese crust and took his first bite. He literally sat back in his chair and melted. He started raving this was the best steak he had ever eaten.

I had the Ahi Tuna and Kirt tried the mixed platter of tomato, crab cake, steak and chicken. Literally the steak was marinated in butter and just melts in your mouth. We had potato au gratin and mushrooms as sides. But my favorite part was the cheesecake. It was huge and it had a light layer of sour cream on it. I almost ate the whole thing but it was seriously so good.

Needless to say a business deal was struck that night and an impression was made on us. We are ready to go back and eat at Ruths Chris Steakhouse again. The dining room is located in a beautiful setting, with tall windows looking out on the Hotel Park City golf course and everything was green and beautiful. I can only imagine how beautiful this will look in the winter snow with a roaring fireplace.

Ahi Tuna was well seasoned and the Lobster was delicious. I will say the portions seemed huge to me and I couldn't finish it all.

Legends Bar & Grill located in Park City Utah Mountain Resort

If you find yourself up in Park City either skiing or enjoying the summer activities you will enjoy eating at the Legends Bar & Grill. It's a indoor/outdoor facility with delicious meals. We ordered the Halibut Fish Tacos and Grilled Chicken, brie and Pesto sandwich. The food was hot and delicious.

The Legends Bar & Grill is open daily from 11:00 am to close and is located close to the Park City Mountain Resort Services (ticket booth) location.

Lagoon & Lagoon A Beach Amusement Park

If living in Utah or just visiting; your whole family will enjoy a trip to Lagoon Park. A scenic short drive up North from Salt Lake City you will soon find the signs for Lagoon Park. Once in the park if you take a left you will quickly find yourself facing Lagoons Double Thunder Raceway tracks. Every time we come to Lagoon Park we purchase tickets to ride these one or two times. It's funner with more people and the thrill is to find a fast car and beat out other riders. Kids love this ride and it's a great Father & Son bonding ride. The tickets cost $5.50 per driver and they have another track that is driver/passenger option.

Lagoon Park has a kiddie land just perfect for every child. They came out with a new ride this year (2008) called the OdySea. It's very Pirates of the Caribbean with the octupus and water. Kids love this park created especially for them and you will find lots of parents and strollers in this area.
Our favorite place to eat while at Lagoon Park is the Olde Mill for the Corn on the Cob. My understanding (or at least years ago we were told this) Lagoon Park grew their own corn and they bar-b-que it so it is piping hot and so sweet. Add salt, butter and pepper or eat plain but it is simply the best tasting corn you will have and if you leave out the butter it's the healthiest option in the park.

On hot days you will be thankful for Rattlesnake Rapids. Get in, sit down and enjoy a relaxing river rafting experience. You get to travel through a dark cave, get hit by light mist and sometimes get a little wet. But at the end of the ride you are guranteed to get soak by the waterfall. No one comes out dry.

Lagoon A Beach which has a lazy river and lots of water slides. Come for a afternoon and enjoy the sun and cold water.

The Rocket came out a few years ago and it's still a timeless classic. Kids love this ride although I am happy passing it if I don't have to ride it. They have two rides the Re-Entry and the Blast Off. It's just like it sounds the re-entry they slowly take you to the top and let you feel safe and just as you are getting used to looking at the beautiful scenery they drop you. The Blast off is they shoot you off and bounce you up and down until you come down again.

They have other exciting rides like Wicked, Colossus: The Fire Dragon, Wild Mouse, Spider and for a soaker the Cliffhaanger which are definitely must RIDES.

Park City Alpine Slide and Alpine Coaster equal Fun

Last Friday my husband and I went up to Park City to enjoy the Alpine Slide, ZipRider and Alpine Coaster. We paid $60.00 each for unlimited rides the whole day which includes other features like Miniature Golf, Climbing Wall and Legacy Launcher. $60.00 is equal to about 3 or 4 rides so if you plan on sticking around for a few hours upgrade to the unlimited rides pass because once you start you will have a hard time wanting to leave.

If you have never been to the Park City Mountain Resort PayDay Park I would recommend that you first begin with the Alpine Slides. You get a scenic ride on the PayDay lift up to mid point of the mountain, grab a individually named cart (mine was Herbie) and walk the beautifully paved nature trail. You will come around the corner and find 4 different slides you can take. My favorite slide is Last Chance. I am right handed and it makes me feel safe so I go faster plus it has two drop offs that are incredible. Get on your cart, wait for the OK to go and proceed to go as fast as you feel safe traveling. WARNING: You can fall off these and the slides are made of fiberglass which can leave burns. On Friday they said they have over 14 riders fall off the track. But to me it's worth the thrill! Once you complete the ride take the blue cart up and hang it on the red pole or hand off to an employee.
Alpine Slide Facts:
Over 3,000 feet of track
one of the longest slides in the world it's like a roller coaster ride you get to control
4 slides to choose from
Each slide has different curves, and turns bringing you down by the Entrance to PayDay Lift
Your ticket to the Alpine Slide includes a ride up the PayDay Lift
Time including PayDay Lift - about 15 - 20 minutes depending on Lines
You will find that children love these and the rides will bring laughs and smiles to their faces. But once you have your fill of the Alpine Slides and PayDay Lift rides you HAVE to go on the Alpine Coaster. Hands down the funnest ride they have in the park and when you ride with a friend or spouse (tallest/heaviest in back) it's even funner when you are the passenger. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.

You board on a mini-roller coaster like cart and buckle in. They shoot you up on the track and you get this nice completely scenic ride up to the top of the mountain. Trust me you will know when you are climbing up because it's like a straight shot up the mountain. The fun of this part is if you are alone you get some much needed peace and quiet to soak in the scenery. As you ride up you also get to watch the riders ahead of you hooping, hollering, screaming and laughing all the way down the mountain which gets you pumped for your ride.

You finally get to the top and come around this little shack and you pull the lever all the way forward. The first few seconds it seems slow but then you hit the down hill action and wow what a thrill. Feel the wind through your hair, your body whizzing by nature, your hands getting whipped (yes, some weeds will hit your hand) and then begin hitting the curves and spins. The first time I rode this I found myself breaking around the corners but once I figured that you truly can't come off the track I learned to not use my breaks.

Again, the kids love this ride and get off wanting more. While we were at the park one little girl about 5 told her father, "let's go again and this time go faster". It truly was cute.

Alpine Coaster
1-2 passenger ride
Must wear seatbelt (it saved my life while I was trying to take pictures)
Push the lever forward the whole ride
The coaster CAN NOT come off the track
Up to 45 miles per hour speeds
More weight the faster this ride goes
Ride lasts about 5 minutes going up and coming down
Over 1 mile of track
Next we will move on to the ZipRider. First off they only allow about 50 people to use the ZipRider each hour. This means that you have to Book your time and get tickets for the PayDay Lift ride/Zip Rider. If you come early and get a All Day pass just let them know you want to go every hour and they can book you for that. Do not wait to book these until the time of because you will most likely not get a chance to ride it.

You take the PayDay Lifts up and this time instead of turning left for the Alpine Slides you will turn right. It's a very short walk and the setup is quite easy. They have you walk up a few stairs, sit down in the seat, buckle you in and wish you luck. The gates open up and voila you are riding down through the middle of the park for all to see. I have learned that the lighter you are the faster you go and the heavier you are the slower you will go. Kids absolutely love this ride and I will say it's exhilerating but I still love the Coaster more. Keep your legs straight and enjoy the scenery - nothing too scary about this ride unless you are afraid of heights.

Alpine Slide
1 rider per seat
They usually only send 2 riders at a time down different zip lines but they have 4 zip lines
Heavier you are the slower you go
Includes PayDay Lift ride
Rides must be scheduled
Only about 50 riders a hour
Slide lasts about 30 seconds

Climbing Wall
Never done it but Kids love it
Human Maze
It was closed on the last two days we were at the park but it looks fun.

Legacy Launcher
Kids love this and sometimes parents will get into the picture but it's a controlled trampoline experience.
Minature Golf
Kids seem to enjoy this

Horseback Riding
Must be booked and they took quite a few different groups out the day we were their. I love horses so it was fun watching them go up the hill.
Mountain Biking & Hiking
You will see some serious mountain bikers coming up and down the hills. This is a heavily biking area and these groups come for the intensity of the mountains.
